So, according to After Elton, Lifetime may be interested in picking up Guiding Light in some form. Will it still be a five day a week soap? Who knows, but if it does happen, then there is some hope for ATWT, which was renewed for what many believe is it's final year.

Now, I'm hopeful, but lets all remember how quickly Passions died when it was moved to DirectTV. So...

So, this begs to question, can soap operas survive on cable? The medium has changed over the years, starting out on radio, then moving to fifteen minute episodes, then half hours, then hour longs.

Also in the rumor mill is that Young and the Restless plans to add a gay character to their ranks. Well, kind of. It will be revealed that a male character currently on the show is in fact, gay. Will this be like Otalia over on GL? Let's hope, cuz that storyline is prime soapy goodness.
