Even though half the population of Spirit Lake had suddenly departed this earth, the Hub was still packed. Julie watched as people poured in, crowding around the jukebox, or sitting at the tables, talking loudly. It was as if nothing had happened.
Julie stood behind the bar, Roxanne at her side.
Things were good. Things were okay. For now.
Still, Julie couldn't help but feel that there was something else. There was something in the air that told her that no matter what, Spirit Lake would never be a nice, normal town.
